Member states are reluctant to take these children due to security risks. The UN counterterrorism chief says these claims are unfounded.
The US Department of Homeland Security made the decision as the ongoing conflict in Syria meant a return for the immigrants would be too dangerous. Their temporary status was set to expire on March 31.
