People often ask me whether I feel more Iranian or German. Germany is my home because I’ve lived here most of my life. I appreciate the freedom and security here. I’m bound to Iran through cultural, emotional ties. I have the fortunate situation in which I can pick out the good, endearing things from both cultures. But ultimately, thanks to Germany, I’m simply who I am. That’s why, whenever I hear that question now, I just say: “Oh that doesn’t matter at all.”
