The Spanish town of Jerez de la Frontera has a long tradition in producing sherry. It is made by adding brandy to white wine. The town stages an annual festival to celebrate the drink.
The Catalans love it: salt cod salad. It's made with shredded salt cod, onions, tomatoes, and black olives. In Spain it's known as Esqueixada: a traditional dish with cult status.
Spain's Balearic Islands have approved laws that prohibit harming bulls in the bullring. Conservatives plan to challenge the restrictions in court for violating the constitutional protection of cultural heritage.
