The festive meal is one of the highlights of Christmas. And traditions vary from country to country. In Norway, pork ribs or stockfish are popular, while in Germany many enjoy a Christmas goose. And in France, scallops are on the menu.
If some parts of Iceland feel overcrowded with tourists, the western regions of the country offer off-the-beaten-track adventures. DW's Elizabeth Grenier tested it out.
