Together with two European Parliament members, DW Akademie and the Global Forum for Media Development are organizing an open Policy Dialogue to discuss media development in the post-2015 agenda. We invite you to attend.
Next year is the deadline for efforts to achieve the eight United Nations Millennium Development Goals originally set in 2000. Discussions on a post-2015 agenda on Sustainable Development Goals are well underway.
When it comes to media development, which role can freedom of expression and independent media play in the post-2015 agenda? Media promote transparency and accountability, and both are essential prerequisites for good governance.
This is the framework for an up-coming Policy Dialogue at the European Parliament in Brussels being organized by DW Akademie and the #link:http://www.gfmd.info/# (GFMD). It will be hosted by Thijs Berman, Member of the European Parliament from the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, and Member of the Committee on Development; and Michèle Striffler, Member of the European Parliament from the Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats), and Vice-Chair of the Committee on Development. The event is open to all and will bring together practitioners and politicians to outline the opportunities of media and freedom of expression in the Sustainable Development Goals.
