Yemen's government has accused separatists in the south of the country of an attempted coup. The unrest is a fresh threat to the authority of the country's President Hadi, who remains in exile in Saudi Arabia.
Despite impressing at times in Russia, Gareth Southgate's England team were well beaten by a better Belgium team in the third-place playoff in Saint Petersburg. A goal at the start and the end proved enough.
France have reached the World Cup final for the first time since 2006 after another set-piece goal decided another World Cup game. In Saint Petersburg, Belgium were worn down by a mature French team.
Belgians rarely display national pride because of the multilayered nature of the country’s own identity. Losing to France was a great disappointment, but the country still stands together, proud of their team.
Belgium have reached the World Cup semifinals for the first time since 1986 after holding on to beat Brazil in a thrilling encounter. The Red Devils will now face France in the final four.
