Raouf Ezzat, Heba

Heba Raouf Ezzat was educated in Cairo and studied political science in Essen and Cairo where she received her PhD. Ezzat, political scientist, researcher, lecturer and writer, is an assistant lecturer in the Faculty of Economics and Political Sciences, Cairo University. She is also a researcher in the International Institute for Islamic Thought and a contributing researcher to Kuwait University’s Encyclopedia of Political Sciences. From 1995 to 1996, Ezzat was a visiting researcher in the Centre for Democratic Studies at the University of Westminster, London. In 1998, she was a visiting researcher in the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies.
Ezzat’s topics of interest include human rights, inter-faith dialogues, critique of modernity, epistemology, social theory and the sociology of Islam. In cooperation with youth initiatives she played an important role during the Egyptian uprising in 2011.
