The English FA have reignited their interest in RB Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick following the sensational sacking of coach Sam Allaradyce.

Allardyce, who was fired 67 days into the job after a British newspaper sting revealed he was discussing ways around "third-party ownership" rules - and Rangnick is now believed to be back in the frame.

As well as showing interest in speaking to Rangnick, the FA are also sounding out Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who could leave the club at the end of the season after 20 years at the club.

When asked about the rumors, RB Leipzig manager Ralph Hasenhüttl said it will be "unfortunate" to lose Rangnick, but also confirmed his sporting director "speaks very good English."

Rangnick, a former coach of Schalke, interviewed with the FA when previous England coach Roy Hodgson resigned after Euro 2016, before Allardyce eventually got the job.

The 58-year-old led Schalke to the Champions League semi finals in 2011, where they lost to Manchester United. Rangnick has coached several other German clubs, including VfB Stuttgart, Hannover and Hoffenheim.

He was the manager of promoted Hoffenheim when it sensationally stormed to the top of the Bundesliga in 2006.

England has appointed Gareth Southgate as interim coach for the next four games, but hope to make a permanent appointment before the end of the year.
