Northern Lite, a four-piece from Erfurt, have a wicked way of meshing techno and electronic pop with rockin’ guitar. Bata Illic and Eike Immel: the new dynamic duo? The former's last top 20 hit in Germany was in 1975, and the latter was once a legendary goalkeeper on the soccer field. After meeting on a German reality TV show earlier this year, the two backseat Tarzans went into a studio to record a song together. Lisa Bund, who appeared on that same show, is being called "Germany’s new superstar," but few of the stars and starlets who’ve sprung off the TV casting show scene here in Germany have had an enduring impact to compare with the first act to do so: No Angels. Rapper Flo Rida's cool, bomb da bass blow out breakthrough broke through in Germany as well. So did Sheryl Crow's tribute to the everyday heroes of post-Katrina New Orleans.
