For centuries the indigenous Ngöbe people have been cultivating cocoa deep in the Panamanian jungle. One woman is helping to protect that green tradition and provide an income for indigenous female farmers with her artisan chocolate factory.
Cocoa farmers in Panama are prone to poor working conditions and low pay. Meivis Ortiz is trying to improve their lot through an agroforestry project that pays women farmers a fair price.
