New Zealand holds memorial for mosque attack victims

Thousands in the New Zealand city of Christchurch have remembered the victims of deadly shootings at local mosques two weeks ago. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern called for a global effort to end violent extremism.

A memorial was held on Friday in the New Zealand city of Christchurch, two weeks after a suspected white supremacist killed 50 people during Friday prayers at two mosques. Thousands stood in silence as the names of those shot dead were read out at a memorial service also attended by dozens of representatives of governments from around the world.
