Media Viability Handbook: Call for authors

DW Akademie is calling for proposals from authors for a practice-oriented handbook on Media Viability.

You have broad experience in the media startup scene.

You have set up your own media enterprise sucessfully.

You have a large network of content startups from your region.

The publication is part of a cooperation project with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusmmenarbeit (GIZ) bringing together 15 well-selected media entrepreneurs from all around the world. The main question is: How does a media startup position itself to survive on the market in the long-term? With the aim to provide inspiration and strategic guidance, the handbook will be covering 1. monetary questions, 2. community and organizational aspects and 3. growth and sustainability.

Target group and topic:

The target group of the handbook are media entrepreneurs from developing and transition countries. The main question is: How does a media startup position itself to survive on the market in the long-term? With the aim to provide inspiration and strategic guidance, the handbook will be covering 1. monetary questions, 2. community and organizational aspects and 3. growth and sustainability.

Requirements:

Applicants should bring

  • broad experience in the media startup scene
  • experience with setting up your own successful enterprise in the recent past and/or a large network of content startups from their region/continent
  • proficient knowledge in information collection and analysis, as well as excellent analytical and writing skills,
  • experience in international media development and/or consultancy of international development projects as well as
  • relevant in-country and regional knowledge.

Digital Media Pioneers

The publication is part of a cooperation project with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) bringing together 15 media entrepreneurs from all developing and transition countries to meet-up and get inspired by the diversity of shared experiences. Calling themselves Digital Media Pioneers, the participants have formed a network to explore and gain insights from the challenges other innovative media entrepreneurs face, and to use common expertise to find new approaches and solutions for media viability. Within the framework of the project, DW Akademie organizes three meet-ups and a series of webinars on Media Viability with the participation of outstanding experts.
