More people than ever before visited the Louvre in Paris in 2018. To mark the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci's death, the museum is showing a comprehensive exhibition this year.
On German Unity Day, October 3, the well-known street art artist JR will transform Berlin's landmark with a 25-meter-high photo collage. This is intended to commemorate the fall of the Berlin Wall.
With more than nine million visitors a year, the Louvre is the world's most frequently visited museum. Many other superlatives apply to this former residence of French kings as well.
Best known for designing the glass pyramid in front of the Louvre, Chinese-American architect I. M. Pei has left traces of his inimitable modernist style all over the world. He turns 100 on April 26.
