In 2009, Russian anti-corruption lawyer Sergei Magnitsky was arrested on charges of creating illegal tax evasion schemes and later died in pre-trial detention. His friend and client Bill Browder vowed to punish those involved in the killing and shepherded through the Magnitsky Act in the US. He wants Europe to follow the US in adopting sanctions against human rights abusers. Teri Schultz reports.
This past week saw Austria celebrate one hundred years since it first became a republic. Actually there have been two Austrian Republics – the first ending in civil war and the Anschluss to Nazi Germany in 1938 - while the second attempt seems to be doing rather better.
