Germany head coach Joachim Löw will have to do without Toni Kroos for the two upcoming internationals. This comes after the Real Madrid midfielder suffered a fracture to his right foot.

The DFB (German football association) announced on Tuesday that a CT scan carried out in by the national team's medical staff in Munich had revealed that Toni Kroos sustained a fractured metatarsal in Real Madrid's 3-0 victory over CD Leganes on Sunday.  A DFB statement said the injury would keep the midfielder out of training for the next 10 days.

This means Kroos will miss both Friday's World Cup qualifier in San Marino and next Tuesday's friendly against Italy in Milan.

Real Madrid had no immediate comment on when Kroos could be expected to return to training. A statement posted on their website said only that "his recovery will continue to be monitored."

Last month the former Bayern Munich player signed a contract extension that will keep him at the Spanish giants until 2022.
