Even as Colombia has granted legal status to almost 2 million Venezuelan refugees, their own government has sealed its borders, making it harder to leave the country. Deutsche Welle has been talking to some trying to cross into Colombia.

Venezuela says many of its soldiers have been killed by landmines deployed by armed groups. A military offensive along the Colombian border has led to a humanitarian crisis in the area.
The migrants will receive a 10-year protection status after which they can apply for a residence visa. The decision affects about 950,000 undocumented Venezuelans.
For the past six years, opposition figure Leopoldo Lopez has been in prison, under house arrest and recently holed up in the Spanish ambassador's residence. The charismatic politician is said to be headed for Colombia.
