Herrenchiemsee palace was meant as a tribute to King Ludwig II's role model Louis the Fourteenth. It's the most expensive of the three palaces built by Ludwig the second. Today just a fragment remains, but it's very popular with tourists.
Linderhof was the favorite castle of the Bavarian King Ludwig II. On the occasion of his 173rd birthday (August 25th), visitors celebrated his desire for beauty during the "King Ludwig Night".
