A young journalist fell 15 meters to his death from a walkway between two treehouses by environmentalists protesting plans to facilitate open-cast lignite mining
The company has agreed to a request by the NRW state government, signing a one-year moratorium on logging. The state asked RWE to halt logging to ease tensions at the site, which has become a flashpoint for protests.

An arson attack in Düsseldorf on a crane rental firm is being probed by police for possible links to a protest over clearing a nearby forest to make space for a coal mine. It may be the second such case in days.
