Guantanamo: Twenty years on

DW's Oliver Sallet reports from US naval base of Guantanamo - and the camp that's come to symbolize one of the biggest US moral failings in the war on terror.

Die Guantanamo-Häftlinge tragen verschieden farbige Kleidung: Etwa ein Drittel der insgesamt 520 Gefangenen trägt weiße Gefängniskluft, die nur denen vorbehalten ist, die sich durch besonders gute Führung auszeichnen. Ein weiteres Drittel mit weniger Privilegien trägt braun, und der - als besonders widerspenstig eingestufte - Rest das grelle Orange, das weltweit die Signalfarbe für das berüchtigte Militärgefängnis ist. Viele von ihnen werden schon seit 2002 als mutmaßliche Terroristen, Taliban-Kämpfer oder Mitglieder der Terror-Organisation El-Kaida gefangen gehalten.
