On the International Day of Mine Awareness, the UN aims to draw attention to the Mine Ban Treaty. It hopes every country in the world will sign it - but Russia, China, India and the US have yet to do so.
Troops from South and North Korea have begun demining the heavily fortified DMZ border area along the peninsula. It marks the two countries' latest joint gesture aimed at easing their decades-long military standoff.

HRW has accused Houthi rebels and their allies in Yemen of using banned landmines. The use of landmines threatens the return of millions of displaced people to their homes.
