A national survey has found that 59 percent of people in Germany think the government’s coronavirus measures are adequate, while 28 percent say they don’t go far enough.
People in Germany broadly support the government's response to the coronavirus pandemic, and Chancellor Angela Merkel herself, a new survey has shown.
Berlin authorities estimate that some 30,000 people attended the latest coronavirus skeptic demo. While most of the day was peaceful, hundreds of people attempted to storm the Reichstag parliament building.
Only one in six people surveyed across a dozen countries said they have a positive view of the US, in part because of its response to the pandemic. In Germany, respondents held particularly negative views of the US.
With relatively low exposure to the coronavirus, health experts in Germany say the country won't be safe until there is a viable vaccine. Berlin has promised funding to three German companies racing to save lives.
