German Air Security Law to be Re-Examined

The new German air security law will most probably be examined by the German constitutional court after German President Horst Köhler signed it. The German head of state had expressed his doubts about the bill's constitutionality and suggested the law should be examined again. German Interior Minister Otto Schilly said that the president's concerns were unnecessary. The new law was approved after the Sept. 11 terror attacks. According to the law, any plane used as a weapon of terror could be shot down. The decision to shoot a plane down would be taken by the defense minister.
