Jacobsen jumps further
January 1, 2013Norway's 2007 champion Anders Jacobsen has won the event at Garmisch-Partenkirchen to secure his second win of the Four Hills tournament.
Jacobsen produced jumps of 131 and 143m for a total of 277.7 points. Hit by a gust of wind in his first round jump, he nearly lost control and was placed ninth. His jump in the second round took him ahead of Austria's defending champion Gregor Schlierenzauer.
Schlierenzauer jumped 134 and 136.5m for 276.8 points to place second.
Norway's Anders Bardal was third after his efforts of 136.5 and 135.5m gave him 267.2 points. Compatriot Tom Hilde was fourth.
Best placed German of the day was Andreas Wellinger in ninth. Severin Freund, who had made third place in Sunday's jump in Oberstdorf could only manage 15th place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
The competition moves on to Austria for the final two events - in Innsbruck on January 4 and then Bischofshofen on January 6.
