What's in your hip pocket?

A hip flask in a jeans pocket

For that little nip between appointments

Flachmann, meaning hip flask, is a nifty way of carrying a small amount of alcohol with you for that kleinen Schluck zwischendurch - or little sip between appointments. This small, flat, cylindrical flask is designed to be worn in the breast pocket of jackets or pant pocket. In Germany , they usually hold about 200 ml (7 fl ounces) and contain strong alcoholic beverages. Flachmann are particularly popular with hikers, hunters or as a practical gadget for anyone travelling. Flachmann is also the name of a line of small bottles of alcohol available in most German supermarkets.
