Climate and Energy Policy Expert and Author, Berlin, Germany
Severin Fischer has been working as a fellow at the Berlin-based German Institute for International and Security Affairs (Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik - SWP) since 2011. He has five years of working experience in the field of energy and climate policy. From 2008 to 2011 he worked as project coordinator at the Institute for European Politics (IEP) in Berlin. In 2009 and 2010 he also joined the office of the Chairman of the Environment Committee in the European Parliament as a policy advisor. Since 2010 he has also been a visiting lecturer at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) in southern Germany.
Fischer holds a degree in political science. His most recent book "Auf dem Weg zur gemeinsamen Energiepolitik" ("On the Road to a Common Energy Policy"), published in 2011, was one of the first comprehensive German-language textbooks on EU energy policy. He is currently working on such topics as the Europeanization of German energy policy, the future of the EU's renewable energy policy and the EU's post-2020 climate and energy policy framework.
