Many German farmers rely on seasonal workers during harvest time. These laborers are supposed to be paid the minimum wage. But some say they are being underpaid and overworked.

At €9.19, the minimum wage in Germany remains among the lowest in western Europe, according to a report. Despite an increase earlier this year, the wage floor continues to sit far below median income levels.
Minimum wage should ensure that full-time workers are not poor. Most EU countries that have a minimum wage meet this minimum standard — at least for people living alone. But some, including Germany, cut it awfully close.
