Hummels reaction

May 10, 2016

Bayern have once again weakened their main rivals by luring one of Dortmund's mainstays to Munich. So what do Dortmund's fans think of the Mats Hummels transfer? Not surprisingly, they're not happy.

It was the worst kept secret in German football. Twelve days ago, it emerged that Mats Hummels wanted to move back to the city where he grew up. Dortmund fans let the defender know in no uncertain terms how they felt by jeering him in a win over Wolfsburg the week before last.

Well, it did happen. On Tuesday, the two clubs confirmed that Hummels will return to Munich in a deal worth almost 40 million euros. So have Dortmund fans gotten used to the idea of their captain going to Bayern?

Hummels has certainly changed his tune from the initial announcement. That has particularly rubbed some Dortmund fans the wrong way.

Some on social media have used the opportunity to mock the yellow-and-blacks for having to sell another talent after Mario Götze, Shinji Kagawa, Robert Lewandowski and Nuri Sahin.

So how will Dortmund survive without their captain? Thomas Tuchel's side will have a mountain of cash to play around with in the transfer market. That has a minority of Dortmund supporters thinking positively. Which players do fans want them to target?

And the future of the Bundesliga? Does anyone stand a chance? On that score, fans seem to be in complete agreement.
