In 2002 Coenraad de Beer joined SOS Children’s Villages South Africa where he coordinated the establishment of a family strengthening program and an SOS Children’s Village in Nelspruit. In 2004 he was appointed National Family Strengthening Manager for South Africa. Under de Beer’s leadership the family strengthening team was tasked to ensure that its programs reach children and young people at risk of losing the care of their families and that program services are relevant in the context of HIV and AIDS. That made income-generating initiatives and employability focus areas. In 2010 de Beer was appointed Programme Development Advisor at the international office of SOS Children’s Villages International, based in Innsbruck, Austria.
