Protesters around the world have heeded the call sent out by activist Greta Thunberg to demonstrate against the ravages of climate change.
Thunberg's speech to thousands of protesters was punctuated by a counterrally organized by a pro-oil group. Thunberg's visit comes days before an election in which climate change promises to be a contentious issue.
The 16-year-old, and the movement she inspired, have won the 2019 Ambassador of Conscience Award. Germany, meanwhile, confirmed aggressive action on climate change as its citizens prepare for mass protests on Friday.
