Canary islands: Spain leaves refugees in limbo

In 2020, some 25,000 African migrants arrived in the Spanish archipelago creating a new asylum hotspot. While many refugees have traveled to mainland Europe, Madrid is now stemming the flow, sparking fear of the islands becoming a makeshift prison.
