Brazil: Violence against women

In Brazil, a woman is murdered every 7 hours because she's female. 74-year-old Maria da Penha has been fighting for years against this violence. A law intended to punish those who commit femicide more severely is even named after her.

Every two-and-a-half days a woman in Germany dies at the hands of her partner or former partner, according to figures presented on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
