Wrocław, the former Breslau, is Poland's fourth-largest city and a throbbing hub of tourism and the arts - a favorite destination for young people in particular.
Along the Saale and Unstrut rivers the Middle Ages have truly left their mark: castles, monasteries, churches and vineyards. At its heart is Naumburg Cathedral. The region is applying for UNESCO World Heritage status.
