Tomorrow’s musicians today! Each summer, the world’s best youth orchestras come together in Berlin to perform a mix of traditional and contemporary music. It’s a music festival unlike any other!
Berlin’s annual Young Euro Classic celebrates the world’s up-and-coming music talents. Last year, more than 1,000 young musicians from around the world came to the German capital to perform almost 20 concerts in just three weeks. The festival provides an opportunity for young artists to network and gain valuable experience playing in front of large audiences. Young Euro Classic is a huge hit with Berliners, who enjoy the mix of European orchestral works, traditional national music and contemporary compositions. Every year, the festival attracts some 25,000 visitors. Last year, orchestras from Slovenia, Canada, Romania, the Netherlands, Russia, Norway, Ukraine, Georgia and New Zealand performed alongside several international ensembles. Arts.21 presents some of the highlights from 2018, including the thoroughly Scandinavian compositions played by Norway’s Ungdomssymfonikerne, or the National Youth Orchestra USA rendering timeless classics by Duke Ellington and Count Basie. And - last but not least - the European Youth Orchestra, which bring together 120 outstanding musicians from all 28 EU member states.
