Allegations of child sexual abuse at several of Argentina’s most famous soccer clubs have sent shockwaves across the football-obsessed nation.
River Plate beat bitter Buenos Aires rivals Boca Juniors in the final of the Copa Libertadores. The historic game was played in Madrid after violence prevented the second leg from being played in Argentina.
The Copa Libertadores football final has been postponed after River Plate fans attacked a bus carrying Boca Juniors players hours before kickoff. Some players complained of breathing difficulties due to police tear gas.
The postponed Copa Libertadores final between Argentinian clubs Boca Juniors and River Plate has been deemed too violent to remain in Argentina. The second leg match could even be played outside South America.
Two of Argentina's biggest football clubs have been named in child abuse allegations made by a local NGO. Former youth players from River Plate and Independiente have reported a child prostitution ring.
