Public discussion of sexuality is taboo in some Muslim countries. Egyptian doctor Alyaa Gad is out to change that. In YouTube videos, she talks openly and frankly about sex and health issues -- and gets mixed reactions.
After finishing medical school in Cairo, Alyaa Gad spent some years in remote Egyptian villages teaching the basics of hygiene and disease prevention. Many rural Egyptians are unable to read or write, so Dr. Gad started making videos. Today, she lives in Switzerland where she produces three YouTube videos a month to inform viewers about medical and sexual health topics. The response in the Arab world ranges from enthusiasm to outrage.
