The 6-day 'Luminale' festival turns Frankfurt into a sea of light, with installations by light artists making more than 100 sites in the city sparkle and shine.
With its "Fête de Lumières" festival, the French city is internationally regarded as a trendsetter in light art. Four million spectators a year don't want to miss this four-day spectacle in December 6 to 9.
The Cologne Cathedral will be illuminated the next few days in a special way as a stance against hatred. Messages will be projected onto the sides of the cathedral to recall the end of the First World War 100 years ago.
After Berlin, London, Gent and other European cities, Copenhagen is now to host a light festival. In the dark month of February more than 40 light installations will illuminate the Danish capital.
The city that never sleeps is lit up even more brightly in October. Until October 14, artists taking part in two festivals are bathing Berlin’s landmarks in a sea of lights and video projections.
