Aegean Sea: Attacks on Refugees

Video has emerged of masked men attacking the boats of migrants trying to reach Greece. The identity of the attackers remains unclear, but a DW investigations unit and Bellingcat have uncovered information that may link them to the Greek Coast Guard.

Greece: Refugees attacked and pushed back in the Aegean 29.06.2020

Are Greek coast guard forces deliberately sabotaging refugees' and migrants' boats on the high seas as part of a strategy to push them back to Turkey, away from the Greek islands of Lesbos and Samos? A DW investigation.

Turkey says it rescued two migrant boats pushed back by Greece 08.03.2020

Ankara says Greek forces were "hitting" and "bullying" refugees attempting to make the crossing. President Erdogan is set to travel to Brussels to discuss the crisis at the Turkish-Greek border.

EU tells Turkey to take back migrants from Greece 29.03.2021

The EU home affairs commissioner said Turkey should stick to a 2016 deal that would see Ankara take back failed asylum seekers from Greek islands. EU officials are set to travel to Turkey for talks next week.
