Advocaat Resigns as Gladbach Manager

Dick Advocaat has stepped down as coach of struggling German soccer team Borussia Monchengladbach. The 57-year-old Dutchman offered his resignation after Saturday's 1-1 draw with Mainz 05 -- only for the club management to reassure him of his future -- but now the former Rangers and Holland coach has decided to throw in the towel after five months in charge. "Advocaat made this decision," explained Borussia president Rolf Konigs. "We accept and respect his decision and want to thank him for all of his work." Gladbach lie one point above the relegation zone with five games remaining and caretaker manager Horst Koppel has the task of keeping the club in the Bundesliga
