Barbara Adams is senior policy advisor at the Global Policy Forum, an independent policy watchdog that monitors the work of the United Nations and scrutinizes global policymaking. She was a member of the Coordinating Committee of Social Watch, an international network of citizens’ organizations to eradicate poverty and promote gender justice, and the Civil Society Reflection Group on Global Development Perspectives, an interdisciplinary group of civil society activists and scholars that formed in the wake of the 2010 Millennium Development Goals (MDG) Summit to proactively reconsider the current development paradigm from a civil society perspective. Adams served as deputy coordinator of the UN Non-Governmental Liaison Service (NGLS) through the period of the UN global conferences and until 2003. From 2003–2008 she worked as chief of strategic partnerships and communications for the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM).
