A moor frog turned blue

That's a blue-colored male moor frog that was caught mating with it's green-brown female counterpart in a pond in the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. During mating season the males can change to shades of blue ranging from blueish purple to shiny azure due to spectral reflections. The function of the color change is not yet fully known. Most likely the color helps either to attract females or to scare off other males.
