Freedompark

They photo shows families from Phnom Penh's iconic open space Boeung Kak Lake, a 133ha lake at the heart of the city. It is a 'blue lung' of the city, an irreplaceable core of public property that has been leased for 99 years to Shukaku Inc. But officials pressured families into accepting minimal compensation. At the same time the company pumped not only sand into the lake, but also into the homes of the remaining families! In the picture these brave families protest at the newly invented so called "Freedom Park" at street 108 in Phnom Penh, against the developers and the governments policy for many days.
