以色列首届变性人选美大赛
在以色列的首次变性人选美中,信奉基督教的阿拉伯佳丽Taalin Abu Chana当选冠军。11名选手入围这次在特拉维夫国家剧院举行的旨在反歧视的选美决赛。
不在乎谁更美丽
“桂冠并不重要”,Taalin Abu Chana在获胜后说:“我们不需要别人告诉我们,谁更美丽,我们都是女王。”冠军获得合13500欧元的奖金,以便到泰国进行美容手术。
登上国际舞台
来自拿撒勒(Nazareth)的Taalin Abu Chana是阿拉伯人,也是一名变性人。因此她同时属于两个在以色列受到歧视的群体。这位21岁的芭蕾舞演员将于今年9月代表以色列参加在巴塞罗那举行的国际变性人选美比赛"Miss Trans Star"。
追求改变的女性
本次选美拉开了特拉维夫今年一系列同性恋、双性恋与跨性别者(LGBT)庆祝活动的帷幕。特拉维夫是中东地区LGBT群体的中心。今年庆祝活动的口号是“追求改变的女性”(Women for a Change)。
跨性别者需要理解
发起这项选美的是以色列变性人Israela Stephanie Lev。她希望通过这一活动为跨性别者赢得更多的理解和认同。在颁奖仪式上,她欢呼道:“这是跨性别社群的独立日!”
光彩背后的辛酸
参加选美的选手都有过艰难坎坷的经历。她们生为男儿身,却无法认同自己的性别,后来都实施了变性手术。许多变性人在日常生活中都要面对周围人的敌视和排斥,不仅是在以色列。
大都市-避难所
职业为糕点师的Eileen Ben-Zaken被评为“最上镜小姐”。她生长在耶路撒冷一个极端正统的犹太教家庭。她说,她的邻居都以异样的眼光看她,“我总是遭到辱骂,后来我无法忍受,就逃到了特拉维夫。”她的母亲是家乡唯一还与她有联系的人。
被家人离弃
一些选美参赛者都有更加不幸的经历:家人无法接受她们的性别认同和变性手术。很多家庭断绝了与变性子女的联系。
理性之路
这样的选美比赛能否推动人们改变思维,还有待观察。以色列《国土报》写道:“在现实生活中,变性人还必须为在这个社会中获得认同和关注而斗争,而选美比赛象征了一条理性之路。”
