Islands in the Atlantic
The Faroe Islands are situated in the North Atlantic, midway between Britain and Iceland. The island group belongs to Denmark, but not to the EU. The Faroes are home to a population of some 50,000 who nurture both their traditions and their own language, Faroese. The islanders are a tough people long inured to rough seas and the raw Atlantic weather. The Faroese are proud of their island home.
