Gereja Kelahiran Yesus Warisan Budaya UNESCO

Meskipun tentangan Israel, Organisasi Budaya PBB Unesco memasukkan Gereja Kelahiran Yesus di Betlehem ke dalam daftar warisan budaya dunia.

Keputusan ini diambil Komite Warisan Budaya dunia UNESCO Jumat (29/06) di St. Petersburg Rusia. Dalam pertemuan ke-21 negara anggota UNESCO di St. Petersburg,13 memberikan suara setuju, enam menolak dan dua abstain.

Secara politis, keputusan itu memberi dimensi baru, karena permohonan itu diajukan oleh Palestina. Baru 8 bulan lalu mendapat penolakan hebat dari Israel dan Amerika Serikat, Palestina menjadi anggota penuh Organisasi untuk Pendidikan, Ilmu Pengatahuan dan Budaya PBB UNESCO.
