Yemen: Planning TV Studio Facilities

Worldwide, TV production facilities are gradually being digitized. The TV stations in Yemen are also tackling the complex issues associated with digital technology.

The declared goal of DW AKADEMIE's partners, Yemen TV and the Yemeni Mass Communication Training and Qualifying Institute (MCTQI), is to modernize the country's TV stations. Achieving lower costs, higher efficiency, and improved quality of visual images using digital technology requires new production concepts. Right now, 16 television engineers are addressing exactly this issue in a DW-AKADEMIE training in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa.

The training aims to familiarize participants with production standards and the latest television studio technology used in various types of digital TV studios. Participants are also learning to apply the principles of project management. The training uses specially designed educational computer programs and the Internet in order to draw up appropriate market analyses.

During this training, participants are also analyzing current TV programming to assess what kind of TV production facilities are needed. During the project management segment, they will learn how to adapt the costs of a project to the overall budget and coordinate scheduling processes using the Software Microsoft Project.
