What some people have in their hearts became evident in Chile last month, when the government there received what has been described as the world's largest donation of privately held land — roughly the same size as Switzerland. It was given by millionaire entrepreneurs and philanthropists Kris Tompkins and her late husband Doug, who began buying up land in Chile and Argentina to conserve it.
