A day after Muhammad Ali's death, the boxing legend is being remembered around the world as much for his social conviction and moral courage as for his athletic prowess. As civil rights leader Jesse Jackson put it, Ali was "a hero beyond the ring."
He was that rarest of figures, a sportsman that transcended his sport. Muhammad Ali's enormous impact on global society is evident in the flow of tributes from all corners of the globe and from all walks of life.
