09/12/08December 9, 2008

The world marked International Anti-Corruption Day on Tuesday. The chief of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime Antonio Maria Costa used the occasion to call on national governments to implement the UN Convention against Corruption effectively. The convention, which came into force in December 2005, contains strong measures for building integrity and fighting corruption. The UN agency also launched an awareness campaign called “You Can Stop Corruption, Your No Counts”.
