Heads of state and government from the US to India have been quick to condemn the assault on the French capital and offer their support. One of the loudest voices amidst the pledges of solidarity came from German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Spanish police have foiled a bomb and car attack just hours after a deadly van rampage left 13 people dead in Barcelona. Five suspected attackers were killed during the second incident in a Catalan coastal town.

In Catalan, Spanish and English, responses flooded social networks in the aftermath of the Catalan attacks. Voices from music, arts, and culture expressed condolences and sympathy, often through touching images.
International leaders criticized US President Trump after he said multiple parties were to blame for violence at neo-Nazi marches in the US. In Germany, a leading politician called the president's words "monstrosities."
