World in Progress: Ugandan girls skipping school because of their periods

In Uganda, around three-quarters of children leave school early, many of them girls who dare not attend while on their period, because they can’t afford proper sanitary protection. And these girls who miss three, four or even five days of school a month, risk failing their final exams and jeopardizing their futures.
